The KFS 269 is based on a US Military Trainer: the Hughes TH-55A (later developed by Schweizer as the Model 300). For ease of logistics, it uses the same engine as the KFS Trainer, the KFS-170.

The KFS maintains a wing of 3 aircraft – which are used for training and VIP Transport. They could theoretically be used for medevac but there are no records of this being done for any KFS troop below the rank of Colonel.

Other aircraft of the KFS – #2: Medium Lift Helicopter

The Kentucky Free State has chosen to produce and operate six Medium Lift Helicopters. These are based on the CH-37 Mojave design (selected because this airframe uses the same engines as the P-47 Thunderbolt).
