GURPS 4th ed template for Morrow Project – Recon

If you’re going with GURPS 4th Ed, I’d recommend around a 150 point limit on characters, with a maximum limit on disadvantages of 45 (it just seems likely that the Project would try to screen out the more unstable/unlucky/damaged recruits)

The following is a template that uses 140 points (and no quirks). That leaves 15 points for customization (more, if fewer advantages are taken). I’ve also worked out some 10 point ‘lenses’ that reflect my views on some of the various roles within a recon team


I’ve included an unspecified “Expert Skill” and a few “Professional Skills”, which are a sort of catch-all for GURPS 4th Ed – they cover everything which a degree holder or a professional would be taught in their basic training (eg “Professional Skill: Soldier – a present-day soldier knows how to disassemble and clean his weapon. He also learns to dig trenches – but he doesn’t really have an armoury skill or a combat engineer skill).

The ‘versatile’ advantage gives +1 bonus on any roll requiring creativity or invention – which I thought an appropriate way of
reflecting MP training.

The choice of disadvantages is influenced by my view of the project as organized on “Templar” lines (recruits are HIGHLY motivated and loyal). An additional possible choice of disadvantage might therefore be ‘Sense of Duty (Survivors) for 10 points’ – but your MP universe may well vary.
